For reasons I will explain below, DO NOT start a Facebook Page for your Biz Opp or MLM. Instead, you need to Brand Yourself.
I have to confess that I have already broken this rule. It started because I had already been out there in social media trying to promote my MLM before I learned about Attraction Marketing.
I had no idea what that even was. With Attraction Marketing, you pull people toward you instead of chasing them. Much better, right?
People will more readily buy products from people they Know, Like and Trust. People will NOT sign up in a biz opp with people that they don’t Know, Like and Trust. So what does that tell you?
You have to get yourself out there . . . brand yourself . . . so that people get to Know, Like and Trust you.
One of the best ways to do that is through video. Through video people can actually connect with you, see your body language, and get a sense of who you really are.
But I digress . .
4 Reasons to NOT create a Facebook Page for your MLM.
- You will Most Likely leave that Company. The average MLM’er doesn’t stick with their MLM for longer than 2-3 months. The odds that you will leave that company and go elsewhere is very high. So why waste all you time, effort and money into building up a page that you may not need in 3-6 months? You will always have you. And if you are an entrepreneurial type, chances are, you will move on to a different business opportunity and have to start all over. So bottom line, it was a waste.
- Companies Go Out Of Business. This is fairly common in the MLM world. Companies can go under for so many reasons. They are under-funded and can’t handle the cash flow needs or expansion needs. They can have management issues, or product issues. So the same logic applies here. You spend a lot of time, effort and money, only to have it all be for naught.
- It’s Not Allowed. Many companies don’t allow their products to be promoted in public venues. Companies often have restrictions on how their company and product names can be used in public. Make sure you read your company’s Policies & Procedures before you venture out in this arena.
Facebook also has rules against it. Their rules state that if you aren’t the official representative of a company, you can’t run a page in a company’s name. Again, read the fine print before proceeding.
4. You are Branding the Company Instead of Yourself. First, the company is already spending money to brand itself, so why waste your money doing that.
Second, how would someone choose between buying from you versus another rep who is promoting the same company and products? There is no relationship or loyalty built up with any customers to YOU. So what difference does it make which replicated website they choose to buy product?
Third, this goes back to Number 1. What happens to that FB page if you leave the company? Wasted . . . . Plus you have to start over from scratch with a new page for something else.
So should you market your products on Facebook at all? Probably not, or at least minimally. Your friends and family will start ignoring or blocking you.
Your goal should be building relationships. If you want sign-up’s, you have to have that relationship.
You are much better off to brand yourself with attraction marketing techniques. That way you are pulling people to the real you. No surprises. Get out there and be genuine, positive and provide LOTS of value to people.
There are lots of good trainings out there on Attraction Marketing. And, of course, if you have been reading any of my writings for any length of time, you know that I am a huge fan of the MLSP community. Everything they do and promote is about branding yourself and attraction marketing.
Plus, they provide you with training products that you can offer people. You don’t have to create your own which is a little hard to do when you are first starting out. A Win-Win!
