Eric Worre does an excellent job of getting down to the essence of how to become a network marketing professional in his book “Go Pro.” I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone in network marketing, or if they are just thinking about jumping in. It is very enlightening.
One of the topics he covers is inviting people. Whether you are inviting someone to look at your products, to review a video, to attend an event, or to consider your opportunity, these four rules will help you be more successful.
Inviting is fraught with emotion and fears: Fear of Rejection, Fear of Saying the Wrong Thing, Fear of Offending, and on, and on, and on . . . .
These 4 Rules of Successful Prospecting will help you to pull the emotions out of the process, and gives you an easier, less emotional perspective for tackling each aspect of network marketing.
The 4 Rules of Successful Prospecting (aka The Emotions of Inviting)
Rule #1 – Emotionally Detach Yourself from the Outcome.
This is extremely important. Our goal is education and understanding – not getting a new customer or distributor. This makes life much easier. It removes you from the emotions of the outcome.
Of course, this isn’t as easy as it sounds or we would all be millionaires. It is hard to disconnect from our expectations. So to counter that he suggests that “We act as consultants offering suggestions on how people can live a better life.”
Focusing on getting a customer or distributor leads to disappointment and prospects running away from you. While focusing on education and understanding, leads to fun and your prospects enjoying the experience.
Rule #2 – Be Yourself
Don’t become a different person when inviting which just leads to everyone being uncomfortable. Focus on being your best self.
Rule #3 – Bring Some Passion
Enthusiasm is contagious. Get focused, smile, be positive.
Rule #4 – Have A Strong Posture
You must be bold, confident & strong. How you present yourself, enter a room makes a strong first impression. You need to make the right one – a strong one.
“Be yourself, but be a bolder self. Be yourself, but be a stronger self. Be yourself, but be a more confident self . . .” from “Go Pro” by Eric Worre
